Youth Speaks Hawai'i Wednesday Writing Workshops
Since 2005, Pacific Tongues has facilitated a weekly after-school spoken arts workshop at the Arts at Marks Garage - 1159 Nu'uanu Avenue. This workshop is free for youth. Averaging twenty young poets weekly, this creative space has never missed a beat. Pacific Tongues is committed to continuing our collaboration with the Arts at Marks Garage every Wednesday from 4:30 to 6pm.

Pacific Tongues x TEDxHonolulu 2013 x University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa Creative Writing
TEDxHonolulu invited Pacific Tongues to present Kaona, a love poem to ōlelo Hawaiʻi written by Jamaica Osorio and Ittai Wong. This poem received international attention through HBO's Russell Simmon's present Brave New Voices. Being asked to re-present the poem, the authors are embarking in a process to revision the performance. Jamaica Osorio, Ittai Wong, William Giles, Alakaʻi Kotrys, with Serena Simmons, Harrison Ines and Joanna Gordan will present their practice of kulena to Hawaiʻi through a power spoken word presentation.

2013 Youth Slam Season Begins
The Hawai'i Youth Grand Slam Finals is in March 2014 at a location TBA. To secure a spot at the finals, teenagers (between 13-19) need to participate at the monthly qualifiers. These events happen every second saturday at the Arts at Mark's Garage midday from 3-7PM. In addition, for young poets and performers who don't want to compete, can sign up for the open mic portion.
